How to Clone a MAC address on a Grandstream
If you have the Grandstream directly connected to a modem and the Grandstream is not being assigned an IP address, then the Internet Service Provider might be using a MAC address filter to assign IP addresses. If this is the case, please try these steps to resolve the issue.
This issue is almost always specific to cable Internet and is not typically used by DSL providers. |
First, retrieve the MAC address of the device that was connected to the modem prior to receiving the Grandstream.
Once you have the MAC address of the computer or router that you are trying to clone:
- Connect a computer directly to the LAN port of the Grandstream.
- Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.2.1 and log into the Grandstream.
- The password is 123.
- At the top of the page, click on Basic Settings.
On the basic settings page scroll down and look for Cloned WAN MAC Addr:
- Type in the MAC address of your computer or router that used to be connected to the modem.
- Scroll down to the bottom and click Update.
- Then click Reboot.
When the Grandstream reboots, it will now be cloning the MAC address that you typed in.
