Send Faxes
To send a fax from your VoIP service you will need a fax machine connected to your phone adapter.
Once your fax machine is connected to your phone adapter there are a few settings on your fax machine that we recommend you set. (The last two options may not be available on all fax machines)
- Baud Rate
- This should be set to 9600 or lower. If your fax machine doesnt list the baud rate but instead says "Fast, Normal, Slow" pick slow
- Error Correction
- Needs to be turned Off
- V.34
- This should be set to Off
- Overseas Mode
- This should be turned On
Aside form the settings on your fax machine you also need to ensure that your account is set up to use the G711u High Bandwidth Codec. The G711u Codec not only provides better audio quality for voice calls but also helps ensure the proper transmission of your fax.
All accounts are set up by default to use G711u.
To check to make sure your account is using G711u you will need to log into your account.
• Click Service Settings from your MyAccount menu.
• Click Bandwidth Control (Codec)
• Make sure the selected option is "G711u (High Bandwidth)".
• If the selected option is "G729a (Low Bandwidth)" click on the drop down menu, select "G711u (High Bandwidth)", and then click Save Settings.
• If you change the bandwidth setting you MUST restart your phone adapter for the change to take effect.
